Like boot camp on a bicycle at a rave. @bkcycle
When someone tweets at me that there will be a free spinning class with a live DJ on the kind of sweltering summer night when running outside would be an excessively moist affair, naturally I have to go. Brand new BK Cycle is still working out some kinks, but on Wednesday night, super-buff drill sergeant Cindy worked the darkened, mirrored room into a froth. The woman next to me whooped a lot. It was like a super-athletic church-revival-motivational-seminar-rave. The pounding tunes left me only slightly deafened.
Full price for a one-hour class will be $20, but right now BK Cycle is offering discounts and occasional freebies. Sign up by calling 347-787-2340. They’re at 724 Myrtle Avenue, which is in a neighborhood called Tompkins Park North, which smacks of one of those real estate re-brandings and is wedged between Clinton Hill, Bushwick, Williamsburg, and Bed-Stuy.
